DISCIPLESHIP AND MINISTRY TRAINING (DMT)
Introduction
Our Lord and Master, Jesus gave us the Great Commission to make disciples of all Nations. To accomplish this task, we need to be disciples because you cannot give what you don’t have. Discipleship and Ministry are not some things suddenly accomplished but processes steadily acquired and maintained. Discipleship and Ministry Training (DMT) aims at equipping the people of God to reconcile Nations back to God. It addresses all the important weakness that leads to immaturity in discipleship and ministry.
Rationale for the Training
Discipleship and Ministry Training (DMT) is more of a craft than the pursuit of an academic subject.It integrates the competencies needed for successful Christian life and Ministry. These include spiritual disciplines, Christian character formation, family dynamics, nurturing children and work experience. So, more suitable model for discipleship and ministry training is needed beyond the conventional bible school or seminary structure.
Discipleship and Ministry Training (DMT) is meant for everyone no matter your level in Christian growth, importantly if you are sensing God’s call in your life. As Disciples of Christ, you need to constantly upgrade your Christian knowledge and skills. The training not only focuses on the mind (cognitive) but the spiritual challenges, the issues of the heart and ministry skills which need to be learnt and experienced.
The Programme
This is a Christian character formation and ministry based programme, so it is envisioned to have two stage contents- Discipleship and Ministry. It runs two different sessions in a year each having 18 -20 weeks of 3-4 hrs every Saturday. The classes can be adjusted also to fit each occasion.
You are exposed to tremendous resources available for understanding the dynamics involved in ministry, exposed with co-trainees from different denominational background and works of life and equipped with the capacity and sensitivity to face the challenges of successful Christian growth and ministry. Participants visit mission field for practical experience which is a compulsory prerequisite for graduation.
Participants at the end of the program are presented with Certificates of attendance/ Merit on graduation.
PREREQUISITES
The following are required from potential candidates for training.
Be born again and be a member of believing Church where he or she fellowships.
Ability to understand and communicate in English language
Willing and available to give full time to the program.
A token fee for materials.
